Prayer

‘Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God…’ Philippians 4:6 (NIV) —
Do you ever pray?
Some people admit to praying when something goes wrong. Perhaps you do that?
When the suicide bombers struck on London’s 7/7, Angelo Power was on the underground at the time. When he emerged from the carnage he said this: ”There were flashes of light, people were screaming and smoke began to billow into the carriage. People prayed to God … We were trapped like sardines waiting to die. I honestly thought I was going to die.”
People often pray when they are in danger. People also admit to praying when they feel guilty. Perhaps you do that too?
Last year George Maben was arrested and convicted of the murder of his mother in law, after police bugged his car and heard him say:
“Please God, help me…..I just could not take it any more. Every single day, she was breaking me down. Please God will you forgive me? Please God?”
The verse above is an encouragement for those who trust in God, to tell Him about everything that makes them feel anxious, because He is always able to help.
I’m sure that you have never murdered but perhaps you feel weighed down by the guilt of the past? Well the bible says that those who are genuinely sorry towards God for the past, if wanting to live for Him for the future they confess it to Him. Then He will forgive them, even if they have murdered! Isn’t that wonderful news!?
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1: 9
